Thread veins are tiny blood vessels which run close to the surface of the skin and look like fine red, or sometimes purple, wiggly lines. They’re also sometimes called ‘spider veins’ or ‘broken veins’, although the veins aren’t in fact broken but only slightly enlarged. The medical term for them is telangiectasia.

The heat from the laser causes the capillary walls to become sticky which prevents the blood following through. Over a few days the blood will dry and the area will heal and repair. The surface area may be slightly pink in tone for a short period. We can treat various areas on the face and also on the body. After treatment you will be advised to use a healing cream and a sun block on the area to prevent any other capillaries from surfacing.

Benefits & Expectations

The benefits are clearance to the surface of the skin. You may need three treatments on the area to get the desired result. Treatment times range for the face, six weeks gap is required in between treatments and eight weeks for leg area. This allows the area to fully heal and repair itself before treating again.
